Oak End Grain Cutting Boards
Handmade cutting boards made from solid oak in an end grain construction – manufactured in Germany. Thanks to the upright wood fibers, each board is particularly cut-resistant, durable, and gentle on knife blades.
The characteristic grain of oak gives each board a unique look – robust, natural, and elegant.
Ideal for daily use in the kitchen or as an exclusive serving board.
Highlights:
• Solid oak end grain wood
• Surface: oiled, food-safe, natural
• Handmade – each board is unique
• Thickness: 4 cm
Optionally available with juice groove and Multistopper.
Craftsmanship meets Nature
Our cutting boards are traditionally handcrafted from carefully selected wooden strips, glued by hand. This special gluing creates less tension in the material – minimizing potential warping of the board naturally.
The wood naturally contains tannins, which have an antibacterial effect. This keeps your work surface hygienic, without chemicals.
All our boards are also particularly gentle on knives – the blade glides smoothly over the surface and stays sharper longer.
What is the difference between end grain and edge grain?
End Grain: The powerhouse for the active kitchen. With end grain, the wood is processed crosswise to the fiber. What you see is the cross-section of the growth rings. What you feel: The blade glides between the fibers instead of cutting them. This protects your knives, reduces cut marks on the board, and makes end grain the first choice if you cut daily and intensively.
Edge Grain: The natural grain in its most beautiful form. Edge grain shows the fiber as the tree grew, warm, vibrant, and with visible texture. It is easier to maintain and brings the character of the wood directly to the table. Ideal for those who also use their board for serving or as kitchen decoration.
Natural Surface Treatment
Each cutting board is treated with a food-safe, odorless oil obtained from cold-pressed, certified organic oilseeds from regional cultivation in Germany.
No chemicals, no solvents, no odors, no additives – pure nature.
Optionally, we treat your cutting board with our Cutting Board Balm before shipping.
This creates a velvety smooth, water-repellent surface that optimally protects the wood – of course, also completely odorless.
Design your cutting board exactly to your wishes – with the following options:
- All-around juice groove
- Multistopper®
Recommendation: The Multistopper®
With our Multistopper®, you can use your cutting board on both sides – this ensures both surfaces wear evenly, and warping is prevented. Additionally, one side can be used for fruit and the other for vegetables, for example. This prevents essential oils or aromas from affecting the taste of other foods – your watermelon won't taste like onions or garlic.
Optimal ventilation when using the Multistopper also minimizes moisture-related warping.
Note – each board is unique
Wood is a natural product.
Each cutting board displays its own grain, color shade, and structure – no two pieces are alike.
Small knot holes or cracks are carefully filled by us with high-quality wood filler and black hard wax.
This beautifully emphasizes the natural pattern of the wood and makes each board a truly unique piece.
Because each board is handmade, the actual dimensions may vary by a few millimeters from the stated values. This is completely normal for solid wood in handcrafted products and is part of your board's unique character.
To ensure you enjoy your cutting board for a long time, please note the following:
- Do not put in the dishwasher!
- Lukewarm water with mild dish soap is sufficient for cleaning.
- Then dry and allow to air dry upright so that residual moisture can escape.
- Protect from direct sunlight.
- Regularly care for with our Cutting Board Balm – this keeps the surface supple, resistant, and beautiful in the long term.
- We recommend the HeliaCARE Cutting Board Oil made from cold-pressed, certified organic oilseeds.
