Note:
Please note that the grill plate is an accessory for a fire barrel. The fire barrel must be purchased separately.
First, an important safety notice:
The grill plate is made of steel, which heats up and gets very hot when grilling. During use on your fire barrel, the grill plate must not be touched. Risk of burns!
1. Before first use
Before first use, your new grill plate must be seasoned. This creates a patina that prevents your grilled meat from burning and sticking to the surface. It also acts as an anti-rust layer and makes your grill plate durable and usable for a long time.
2. Preparation for the first seasoning
First, clean the fire plate on both sides with warm water and dry it as quickly as possible with a soft cloth. Now generously oil your grill plate with a high-heat oil, e.g. rapeseed oil or sunflower oil.
3. The seasoning process
Light your fire barrel and place the grill plate on top. Wood can be conveniently added through the hole in the middle. Ideally, the plate should be seasoned for a longer period (1 - 2 hours).
The grill plate will now warp and distort due to the enormous heat. This is a normal process, which is common due to the material. The curvature will usually subside somewhat after cooling.
If the grill plate warps very strongly during seasoning, turn it over during seasoning and place it back on the fire barrel.
4. Grilling
The grill plate should be oiled before grilling. When placing it, make sure that the middle hole is curved downwards.
After grilling, cleaning with water is no longer recommended. It is sufficient to lightly scrape off the surface (e.g. with a spatula). After grilling and cooling, re-oil and store dry.
